Dafna Psychology supports people to overcome personal challenges
and to navigate difficult life circumstances.
No issue is too big or too small. Whether it takes several sessions or just one, I’m here to listen and support you to create the life you want.
Therapeutic style
I have completed workshops (not just read a book!) to be professionally trained to use the following therapeutic styles with clients:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Schema Therapy
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD
I have also completed additional training in ACT and EMDR for neurodivergent folk, clients with complex trauma/PTSD and complex or prolonged grief.
About me
I’m a psychologist who has worked in a range of settings, including as a researcher at universities, a research director with a federal government agency, as a clinician in hospitals and community rehabilitation centres, and in health service design. I’ve also been in management positions and so understand the challenges associated with supporting teams while managing organisation expectations.
I’ve worked in private practice for many years, usually for someone else. A few years ago I decided to create my own small practice. I have a fascination for Iceland and decided ‘dafna’ was the perfect name for my new little business, because ‘dafna’ means “to thrive and prosper” in Icelandic - exactly the type of life I want for all my clients!
My approach
I create a safe and non-judgmental space. We explore how your past experiences influence how you see yourself, others and your world. Our work will go at the pace you are comfortable with - everything is a choice, not a ‘must do’. Together we will find the tools and strategies that work best for the uniqueness of you, so you can start living the type of life you really want. My approach is neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed.
